Shopping for the 50Plus

When I decided to launch a fashion blog for the 50plus woman, I did so knowing the challenge I had recently been facing shopping for clothing. I thought it would be great to hear from other 50plus women.  Below are some of the comments shared by 50plus women about their experiences with purchasing clothing that is fashionable and sophisticated.
Thank you to all to who shared their comments.

I thought shopping for fashionable clothing was a challenge just for me. I told someone the other day they are going to make me pull my sewing machine out. I asked the question to someone the other day “do they make dresses anymore?” We are pressed to find a dress. I just don't get it. I have found a website "Sundaysverybest" that has worked for me. Hope you get some good feedback.

I am very disappointed in the fashion world. Paying top dollor is not an option that appeals to me every time I want to buy an item of clothing. I am too young to buy the granny style clothing and too old for the younger style clothes. If anyone has a suggestion of a retailer who sells 50+ attractive clothing, I would be sooo happy!! Sewing is out of the question for me as I have no skills sewing skills.

I'm not having any issues at the moment.

I tend to shop for clothes younger than my age, because I hate the "granny stuff" that represents the 50+ woman!

When I do shop for clothes I usually look in the misses department. I am definitely not ready for the "granny stuff"

I am going to pull out my sewing machine this spring to make me some cute sun dresses that look good on a 58 year old sexy ,beautiful black woman like myself . Lol I use to make clothes for a long time. My next project is to make me some cute dresses. The “hoochie mama” look found in some stores it's not for me.

I love my jeans and flip-flops. I might be over 50 but I don’t want to dress like old granny.

I don't have the clothes shopping gene but I love to be stylish. Fortunately I have a friend who has a boutique with her sisters in Boston, the Nuveau Fashion Gallery. She always knows what looks great on me. I am a great grandmother and I want to look fresh but age appropriate. I also love fashion design and can sew.

My wardrobe consists of a lot of black clothes and good designer jeans. I accessorize with belts, jewelry and a kick ass purse and heels!! I also like to layer my look. I think a woman our age can look age appropriate with a great white blouse, a good black blazer and whatever slacks or skirt. Dress it up or down with heels, boots or a pair of flats. I sometimes shop in the same department as my 26 year old daughter, adding a youthful item of clothing to my outfit gives me that fun look without looking like I'm trying to dress like her! So, I guess I'm really not having a hard time finding age appropriate clothing, I think it's okay to mix it up!
