I have spent most of my life helping women figure out who they are, what they want and what to wear. I never thought of combining these skills as a career path. These skills came natural for me. What I’ve learned is my passion in these particular areas are exactly what women need to be successful.
The Beginning
I started my love for fashion as a teen working in retail at Joseph Horne’s and going to school for marketing. My love for fashion caused me to dream of being a model and going to New York, Paris and Milan. Life happened, and I never followed through on those dreams at that time. What I know for sure, whatever is in your heart will never fade away. I resorted to being my own fashion statement and helping others who were challenged with their fashion statement. The Love
I’ve also become known for being the queen of consignment even before it was politically correct. My mother was my best teacher, she is the only woman I know who can spend $5 on an outfit and look like a million dollars. This is a skill you must be taught. I learned how to feel for the materials and developed an eye for the quality of clothing. There is nothing I love better than being able to find clothing I can’t afford to wear but somehow come across through a scouting event. I’ve taken women to consignment stores as a part of my image consultant work and loved ever minute of it.
I currently partner in an organization, Million Dollar Man, which provides new and nearly new clothing for men. I can be seen all over the city providing professional suiting for men on a weekly basis. I only accept the best for Million Dollar Man. http://www.million-dollar-man.org/.
The Life
As a life coach, trainer, fashion blogger and image consultant I am able to accomplish all my dreams and more. I’ve combined my passions and am helping others to follow theirs. I enjoy working with single mothers and teens, it is an opportunity for me to give back to the world. I became a teen mother and understand some of the challenges they face. Talking with them about self esteem and body image creates opportunities for both of us to dream dreams that become reality.
In 2010, I had an opportunity to travel to Italy, with BCCC school of fashion. It was a dream come true. The trip to Italy included visits to the Museo Didattico della Seta (Silk Museum) in Como, the Trussardi Fashion House in Milan, and the Instituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Venice. The trip has inspired me to continue to step up and accomplish my dream of being in the fashion industry. The launching of the blog Fashion50Plus is my official launch back into the world of fashion.
I’m not sure where it will take me, I am sure that I am going.
I love being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!
